Prime Rib

If we’re looking for a true holiday roast to be the center of our Christmas table, we turn to the classic prime rib.

Also referred to as standing rib roast, prime rib is known for being a must at the holiday dinner table because of its ability to serve a crowd and the irresistible taste. Juicy and full of flavor, this show-stopping roast is not as difficult to perfect as you may think. Plus, it’s impressive, making your guests think you labored for hours in the kitchen, while in reality the oven did all the work for you.

Ingredients

  • High-grade, bone-in Rib Roast
  • Colman’s Mustard Powder
  • Marmite
  • Freshly ground black-pepper

Directions

  1. Remove rib roast from packaging and place in a roasting pan. Let come to room temperature about 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 450º.
  2. Generously cover all sides of rib roast with equal-parts Colman’s and Marmite. Grind a little black pepper on the top too.
  3. Place roast in a roasting pan fat-side up.
  4. Roast 30 minutes, then reduce heat to 350º and cook 1 hour 30 minutes more for medium rare. (Plan on about 15+ minutes per pound.)
  5. Remove roast from oven, cover with foil, and let rest 20 minutes.
  6. To serve, slice along ribs to remove them, then separate each rib and put them aside. Slice the roast crossways against the grain.
