Sour Cream and Raisin Cookies
This is Dad’s grandmother Camblin’s famous recipe. It was Dad’s absolute favorite cookies. They are more like cakes really.
Ingredients
- 3 cups plain flour
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup shortening
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 cups raisins
- sugar and cinnamon powder for sprinkling
Instructions
- Soak raisins for several hours or overnight. Mix all ingredients.
- (Dad noted on the handwritten recipe that one should break the eggs and mix contents only!)
- Chill dough overnight.
- (We found this out by experimentation.)
- Drop by large table spoons on greased cookie sheet.
- Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
- Bank 15-20 minutes in 350 degrees oven.
